Document Numbering

The document number is a key field used for referencing in and between documents. It is therefore designed to be independent of known variables that change e.g. a particular project, suppliers, or business unit each of which all produce information.
Features
- The document number is a mandatory field within Documentum
- Documentum will automatically generate aunique identification number for documents created in the system
- An external number generator will be available in the ATIC portal for users without access to Documentum
- a batch of numbers may be reserved for external work which will be imported into Documentum upon completion
- Each document number is made up from four mandatory document attributes and a sequential number above
- For legibility, these are separated with a dash delimiter
